Our Commitment to Accessibility
Aura Mercantile LLC, the operator of Lotus Ritual (https://www.lotusritual.com), is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to people with disabilities. We believe that every visitor β€” regardless of ability β€” should be able to explore, learn from, and shop on our Site with ease and dignity.

We strive to provide an inclusive online experience that aligns with widely-recognized accessibility standards and continuously work to improve the accessibility and usability of our Site for all users.

1. Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

Our Site aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This is the standard referenced by:

  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (United States)
  • Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
  • The Accessible Canada Act and provincial accessibility laws
  • The European Accessibility Act
  • Most international web accessibility standards

We are partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard. We are actively working to address these areas (see Section 4: Known Limitations and Section 5: Ongoing Efforts).

2. Accessibility Features on Our Site

We have implemented or are working to implement the following accessibility features:

2.1 Visual Accessibility

  • Sufficient color contrast between text and background to support users with low vision
  • Resizable text that can be enlarged through your browser without breaking the layout
  • Alternative text (alt text) for product images and informational graphics, allowing screen readers to describe visual content
  • Clear visual focus indicators when navigating with a keyboard
  • No reliance on color alone to convey important information

2.2 Keyboard Navigation

  • Full keyboard accessibility for site navigation and core shopping features
  • Logical tab order that follows the visual flow of the page
  • Skip-to-main-content link for screen reader and keyboard users

2.3 Screen Reader Support

  • Semantic HTML structure (proper headings, lists, landmarks) to help screen readers interpret page content
  • Descriptive link text that makes sense out of context
  • ARIA labels where appropriate to provide additional context for assistive technologies
  • Form labels clearly associated with their input fields

2.4 Content Clarity

  • Clear, plain-language descriptions of products and services
  • Consistent navigation across all pages
  • Error messages that explain what went wrong and how to fix it

2.5 Mobile Accessibility

  • Responsive design that works on a variety of screen sizes and devices
  • Touch targets sized for users with limited dexterity
  • Compatibility with mobile screen readers (VoiceOver, TalkBack)

3. Compatibility with Assistive Technologies

Our Site is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies and configurations:

Screen Readers

  • NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) on Windows
  • JAWS (Job Access With Speech) on Windows
  • VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
  • TalkBack on Android

Browsers

We test our Site for accessibility on the latest versions of:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Operating Systems

  • Windows 10 and later
  • macOS 12 and later
  • iOS 15 and later
  • Android 10 and later

We recommend using the latest version of your browser and assistive technology for the best experience. Older versions may not fully support our Site's accessibility features.

4. Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts to make our Site accessible, we acknowledge that some content and features may currently have accessibility limitations. We are aware of and actively working to resolve issues such as:

  • Some older product images may not yet have detailed alt text descriptions; we are reviewing and updating these
  • Certain third-party plugins, embedded content, or widgets may not be fully accessible
  • Some PDF documents or downloadable resources may not be fully optimized for screen readers
  • Live customer support chat features (if added) may have varying levels of accessibility depending on the third-party provider

If you encounter any accessibility issue not listed here, please let us know so we can address it (see Section 7: Feedback and Assistance).

5. Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is a continuous journey, not a one-time project. We are committed to ongoing improvement through:

  • πŸ”Ή Regular accessibility audits of our Site, both automated and manual
  • πŸ”Ή Staff and contractor training on accessibility best practices
  • πŸ”Ή Designing and developing new features with accessibility in mind from the start
  • πŸ”Ή Integrating accessibility tools and assistive technologies into our quality assurance process
  • πŸ”Ή Listening to user feedback and prioritizing improvements that matter most to our community
  • πŸ”Ή Staying current with evolving accessibility standards and legal requirements

We measure our progress by tracking accessibility issue reports, conformance audit results, and user feedback over time.

6. Third-Party Content

Our Site may include or link to third-party content, services, and applications that we do not control, such as:

  • Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal)
  • Shipping carriers' tracking pages
  • Social media plugins (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest)
  • Embedded videos or media
  • Customer review platforms
  • Analytics and advertising tools

While we work with reputable providers, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third-party content or external websites linked from our Site. If you encounter accessibility issues with a third-party service while using our Site, please let us know β€” we will do our best to provide an accessible alternative or workaround.
